Reduce Appetite and Cravings
How Phentermine Works
Phentermine is a clinically proven medication used to aid weight loss in individuals who are overweight or have weight-related medical conditions. It works by stimulating the central nervous system, which helps to reduce hunger and increase energy levels. Phentermine works by targeting the appetite-control center in the brain, helping to curb hunger and reduce cravings. When combined with a healthy diet, regular exercise, and lifestyle changes, it can significantly enhance weight loss results.

Is Phentermine Right for You?
Phentermine is typically prescribed for individuals with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher or for those with a BMI of 27+ who have weight-related health conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes and have not been able to lose weight effectively through diet and exercise alone.
During your initial consultation and examination with Dr. Sattele, or one of our other medical providers, we will determine if phentermine is right for you as it should not be taken by people with certain medical conditions like heart disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, hyperthyroidism, or glaucoma.
How quickly will I see results?
Many patients begin to notice weight loss within the first few weeks when combining Phentermine with our medical weight loss program and a healthy diet/exercise plan.
How much weight can I expect to lose?
Weight loss varies, but many individuals in Dr. Sattele’s Rapid Weight Loss Program with Phentermine lose 5–10% of their body weight during the initial treatment period.
Is Phentermine Safe?
Phentermine is considered safe when taken as directed by a healthcare provider. However, it may not be suitable for everyone, and a medical exam is necessary before starting treatment. While generally well-tolerated, Phentermine may cause mild side effects such as:
- Dry mouth
- Increased heart rate
- Insomnia
- Nervousness
If you experience severe side effects, contact your provider immediately.
Who Should Not Use Phentermine?
Phentermine may not be suitable for individuals with:
- Uncontrolled high blood pressure.
- A history of heart disease.

- Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals.
As part of your initial examination, Dr. Sattele, will determine if Phentermine is safe and appropriate for you.

Frequently Asked Questions About Phentermine
No. Phentermine is a daily stimulant pill and Compounded Semaglutide is a weekly GLP-1 injection; see how compounded semaglutide compares.
Phentermine is FDA-approved for short-term use, meaning a few weeks at a time, not indefinitely. Your provider sets your treatment window at the start and builds your exit plan into the program, so the medication ends on schedule and your meal plan and habits carry the results forward.
For screened patients inside a supervised, short-term program like those at Rapid Weight Loss Centers, yes, phentermine is considered safe when taken as directed. It’s a stimulant, though, so side effects are real and worth knowing before you start. The most common ones are dry mouth, trouble sleeping, and a faster heart rate, along with restlessness, dizziness, or stomach upset for some patients.
Because phentermine is a stimulant, avoid energy drinks and limit other caffeine while you take it; stacking stimulants can raise your heart rate and blood pressure and worsen jitteriness or trouble sleeping. Most side effects fade as your body adjusts, and small changes handle the rest:
- Dry mouth: drink more water and chew sugar-free gum
- Trouble sleeping: take your dose early in the morning and limit caffeine after midday
- Faster heart rate: your provider checks your blood pressure and heart rate at follow-up visits.
This is also why we never sell phentermine as a standalone prescription. It’s included in our Rapid and Standard programs so a medical team is actually checking on you week after week. A stimulant that raises heart rate and blood pressure should come with that kind of supervision rather than arrive in an envelope with no one watching.
While taking phentermine, avoid alcohol, limit caffeine, and skip other stimulant medications or supplements unless your provider approves them. Stacking stimulants can push your heart rate and blood pressure too high.
Phentermine can cause restlessness or a racing feeling in some patients, usually in the first week or two before it fades as your body adjusts; taking your dose early in the morning helps. If it lingers past that window, tell your provider, and a timing or dose adjustment often resolves it.
Phentermine interacts with certain medications, most seriously MAOI antidepressants, which must be stopped at least 14 days before starting. Bring a full list of your prescriptions and supplements to your free consultation so the medical team can check everything before prescribing.
Phentermine can lose its appetite-suppressing effect over time as your body builds tolerance to stimulants, and that doesn’t mean you’ve failed. Weight loss also naturally slows as you get lighter. What you should not do is raise your dose on your own.
Dr. Sattele will review your dose and your response, looks at your eating and your body-composition trend, and adjusts your plan. Depending on what we find, that might mean a program adjustment, a planned taper off the medication, or a switch to a different medication that fits you better. A plateau is a flag for a plan change, nothing more.
Phentermine should be stopped under your provider’s guidance, not abruptly. Following the clinic’s discontinuation plan helps you avoid fatigue and rebound appetite, and it’s already built into your program.
Yes! Regular physical activity enhances the effectiveness of Phentermine and supports long-term weight maintenance.
Certain conditions, such as uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, or hyperthyroidism, may prevent you from safely taking Phentermine. Discuss your health history with your provider.
No, Phentermine is not recommended for individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
