At Rapid Weight Loss & Esthetics Centers, Dr. Kevin M. Sattele, MD, provides physician-administered Restylane® and Juvéderm® dermal filler injections in the Myrtle Beach and Florence areas from his South Carolina clinics across the Grand Strand and Pee Dee. Dermal fillers are FDA-approved injectable gels, most made of hyaluronic acid, that restore lost facial volume, soften nasolabial and marionette lines, and add fullness to thinning lips. If you’re concerned about facial lines or would like to enhance your lips, contact us today at (843) 636-7018 to schedule a Free Consultation with Dr. Sattele and learn more about dermal fillers and the other services we offer at our medical spa.
Fillers replace volume the face loses with age: as fat pads thin and collagen slows, cheeks hollow, folds deepen, and lips flatten, and a gel placed under the skin lifts those areas. Volume shows right away, with no downtime beyond injection-site effects. Treatment areas:
Fillers restore volume; Botox® relaxes the expression muscles behind forehead lines and crow’s feet, and the two are often combined.
At our MedSpa, we carry both hyaluronic-acid filler families. Products differ by area because of texture: firm, high-lift gels support cheeks and jawline, while soft, flexible gels move naturally in the lips. The table below provides a general overview. An individual consultation is required to determine whether this treatment is appropriate for your circumstances.
| Filler line | Maker and type | Treatment areas | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Restylane® family | Galderma; hyaluronic acid | Facial folds, lips (Kysse, Silk), cheeks and midface (Lyft, Contour) | 6 to 18 months by product and area (Galderma product FAQ) |
| Juvéderm® family | Allergan Aesthetics (AbbVie); hyaluronic acid | Facial folds and lips (Ultra XC), cheek and midface volume (Voluma XC) | Through 12 months in lips (Ultra XC), through 24 months in cheeks (Voluma XC), per FDA labeling |
The FDA’s general figure for hyaluronic-acid fillers is roughly 6 to 12+ months; high-movement areas such as lips fade sooner, and a touch-up refreshes the result. Most syringes numb as they work: FDA labeling confirms 0.3% lidocaine in Juvéderm Ultra XC, Voluma XC, and Restylane-L, and Galderma states every current Restylane product except original Restylane contains lidocaine (exact formulation varies by syringe).
Lip filler aims for natural fullness, not overfilling: a half syringe or a single syringe softens vertical lip lines and adds shape while the lips still move normally. Hyaluronic-acid lip results generally last 6 to 12 months and, because they are HA, can be dissolved if you change your mind.
Meet Dr. Sattele and the MedSpa Team
Restylane and Juvéderm are FDA-approved prescription devices injected only by a licensed professional, approved for adults 22 and older (a few products are approved from 21). Common risks per the FDA: bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, itching, and rash, appearing shortly after injection and resolving within days to weeks; less commonly, small firm lumps (nodules). The serious rare risk is vascular occlusion: filler unintentionally injected into a blood vessel can block it, with FDA-reported complications including tissue death (necrosis), vision loss, and stroke. It is uncommon but potentially permanent, and it is the strongest argument for choosing your injector carefully. At our MedSpa, Dr. Sattele plans the placement and performs the injection. We keep hyaluronidase, the enzyme that dissolves HA filler, on site to manage an occlusion. Per FDA guidance, seek immediate medical care for unusual pain, vision changes, or skin near the injection site turning white, gray, or blue.
Aftercare is simple: for the first day or two, do not press or massage the treated area unless your injector tells you to, skip strenuous exercise and alcohol, and hold off on makeup over the injection sites. Bruising is the most common visible effect and can take days to a couple of weeks to clear fully.
Hyaluronic-acid fillers such as Restylane and Juvéderm can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, an enzyme injection. Calcium hydroxylapatite fillers like Radiesse cannot and wear off gradually instead; that reversibility is one reason hyaluronic acid is the usual first filler. As hyaluronic acid breaks down gradually, the treated area returns toward its starting appearance
Most patients feel a quick pinch and pressure, and the lidocaine in most syringes numbs the area as treatment proceeds.
What is filler migration? Migration is filler drifting from where it was placed, discussed most with lips. Worried about older filler from another provider? We can assess it at your consultation.
Yes. Because Dr. Sattele runs our physician-supervised weight-loss programs and prescribe compounded semaglutide, a GLP-1 medication, he already knows how your weight came off and whether your face has finished changing; a standalone medspa only sees the after: Fast weight loss, on a GLP-1 medication or otherwise, can deflate the facial fat pads that support the cheeks, temples, midface, and jawline, leaving a hollowed looking face on a newly healthier body. Hyaluronic-acid filler placed in the cheeks, temples, and jawline replaces some of that lost support, usually restored in stages across more than one visit rather than in a single syringe. Filler does not tighten loose skin: when laxity is the real concern we point you toward skin tightening or a surgical referral. Because treating a still-changing face chases a moving target, we advise waiting until your weight is stable before restoring volume.
Filler labeling flags pregnancy and breastfeeding (not studied), a history of severe allergic reactions, and active skin infection near the treatment area (treatment waits until it clears). Our pre-treatment health-history review screens for these and for medications that raise bruising risk
